These are our Adoptable Riding horses...

These special horses have been rehabilitated and are ready to go to their forever home. Each horse is at a different level of training and may require additional training. Please read their descriptions carefully as some may have restrictions.

Devon

DEVON is a 1999 bay TB mare, tattooed, 15.3 hands, pulled from kill pen, has been ridden - VERY nice quiet riding type.
Has old right hind leg issue, suspensory injury, a tear with scarring. Would be nice for an experienced rider as an occasional trail horse. When she is ridden regularly - the injury flares up and she is lame. May also be suitable for a child's mount with a little more mileage. She gets along well with others - not an alpha type. She can live in a run in shed and field - when stalled, she weaves.

Highland Snow Storm

HIGHLAND SNOW STORM, a 2001 Registered Newfoundland pony mare, black - radical changer, 11.2 hands. Storm will crosstie for grooming, stand for vet and farrier and has been tacked and worked from the ground. Very sound minded pony and ready for a job. Newfoundland Ponies are rare and headed for extinction.

Lady Kestril

LADY KESTRIL, a 2005 Registered Newfoundland Pony mare, black with white star. Stands for grooming, vet and farrier. Very bold and brave pony about 12 hands tall. Has not had any real training yet but she is willing and sensible. Will make a great mount for a 4-H child or small adult. Newfoundland ponies are rare and headed for extinction.

Mickey

MICKEY, a 2000, chestnut TB mare, tattooed, 16.2+ pulled from kill pen. Mickey has been ridden and is a quiet, sensible mare. She would do well as an occasional riding horse as she has some lameness issues. Left hind leg has cellulitus scarring and she has been diagnosed with ringbone in both hind pasterns. Plays well with others - not alpha type but BIG girl! Excellent manners for grooming, farrier and bathing.

Millennium Leap

MILLENNIUM LEAP is a 2000, Saddlebred Mare. Formal training for Millie will begin summer 2009. She has been tacked and has been sat on, been long lined and hand driven. She responded well to all and loves attention. Millie stands for vet, farrier and bathing well - nothing really fazes her. Her winning personality always makes her the center of attention.

Misty Star of Gambo

MISTY STAR of GAMBO, a 1997 Grey Registered Newfoundland Pony mare, 12.2 hands. Misty is quite shy and needs someone with time and patience. She is an agreeable mare once she trusts you. Would be excellent as a riding or driving pony. Newfoundland Ponies are quite rare and headed for extinction.

Polly Poppen

POLLY POPPEN is a 16 hand, black draft cross mare. Polly arrived at the Rescue in 2008, starved and pregnant. She had her filly, raised her, and is now ready for a job. Polly has been started under saddle - but had no previous training and is learning slowly at this point. She does cross tie, stands for vet, farrier and bathing. She is sound and sensible. A very nice mare for someone to finish - may possibly work well as a field hunter or will be a lovely trail mount.

Tullulla

TULLULLA is a 11 year old Saddlebred Mare that can lead and has begun to longe. She has had a saddle pad and saddle on her. She is timid so a gentle slow hand is suggested. Tullulla takes her time to warm up to you as she has trouble trusting. She is typical to her breed but sensible.
