Many people have not had to feed a horse and believe that if you throw it some hay and some sweet feed it will be fine. Not true. Each horse, just as each person requires a different diet. Many horses at the Rescue require special diets because of their age, physical conditions and medical problems. We hope that this information can be useful to you wether you are deciding to purchase a horse or donate to help the horses at Equine Rescue Inc.
Fozzy is a 36yr old Thoroughbred.
She is approximately 16.2 h and in good health. She does require
a special diet because her teeth are worn and she can no longer eat
hay.
Daily Grain - Purina Senior Feed - 8lbs Daily
Hay Cubes -
50/50 Alfalfa/Timothy - 2.5 Scoops Daily
1 50lb bag of Purina Senior = $14
=56lbs a week = $15.68
1 Bag Of Hay Cubes = $10=27lbs a week = $10.80
Total Funds Needed to Feed Fozzy a Week = $26.48
Total Funds Needed a Month = $105.92
Total Funds Needed a Year = $1,376.96
This amount is for Food only. Excluded from the
calculation is Vaccines, Emergency Vet Care, Regular Shoeing and any
possible suppliments she may need.
Lolli is a 40+yr old pony. He is in good health. He
does require a special diet because his teeth are worn and he has
Cushings Disease.
