Scouts with plenty of horse sense

The weekend of July 22-23 was a very special one. With Lynda and Mike's warm welcome, I brought my students who were completing their final weekend of the basic Training Program in Animal Communication & Healing to the sanctuary.

The sanctuary rests on especially healing land. We began our workshop by meditating in the garden, feeling into the sacred energy of the land and the animals. The rains came and so we joined the Geris in the barn for the day. Robin drew us to set up camp by her. Being the wise teacher that she is, she wanted her nose in everything we did- and of course, in every treat we had. She called many of the students to her right away to initiate them in the teachings of "Horse". Petie roamed freely through our group, imparting his quiet-spoken wisdom most generously. Lollipop asked for healing, and Sweetie Pie jumped in to receive her share. Barney educated the students while Ronan taught them the art of "no-touch" contact. Fozzi, Brock, Jessica, Duchess, and Lucky all invited students to be with them- each imparting his/her own unique wisdom and opening to receive healing from the students.

Tallulah had been screaming for us to come to her all the first day. So, with the sun now out, we began day 2 with the girls. And surprise! Tallulah was much more subdued once we got there. Millie shared her desire to become herself away from her Mom's shadow- and have a job. And Baby GooGoo wants a new name that truly reflects her Arab heritage. The afternoon was for the boys. Lenny jumped right in helping one student overcome her nervousness around horses. Fred followed his lead, taking steps towards making sweet contact with everyone in the group. Markie, Mikey, Lefty and Bear all joined in as well, each making special connections with a student. They offered their wisdom as teachers and graciously accepted healing from the students.

It's hard to say who received more healing that weekend, the students or the horses. We all came away with feelings of great blessings- that we could share this precious time with these beloved beings, and deep gratitude for the loving and compassionate work that is Equine Rescue inc.

I hope to be back next year with my advanced students to continue this journey of healing of the heart and soul- horse and human- at the sanctuary.
