NYSHHAP is designed to promote and to teach a pro-active approach to equine health, care, and welfare and to recognize exceptionally managed equine farms and through the education provided, ensures healthier horses and equine environments. Equine Rescue was the first Equine Rescue Operation to be Certified by NYSHHAP.
Volunteers are always needed at the farm to help with the horses. There are many ways that you can help our Horses.
We accept volunteers under the age of 18 with parental consent. We do not provide transportation. The farm is located in Bloomingburg, New York. Generally, volunteers come out at
pre-arranged times. We also have weekday hours for Moms when the kids are in school and after school hours as well.
There is a Waiver of Liability that must be signed before anyone lifts a bale of hay. There is no riding. All riding is done by professionals who train and retrain the horses before they are placed.
Work includes mucking stalls; dumping and cleaning water buckets; checking sheds for hay and water; grooming, grooming and more grooming; and of course, feeding them treats and making them feel special again.
